Quote from “Cooking Lesson” by Rosario Castellanos
"My name is like the H-E-B, but with a 'y' at the end"

It turns out that people are always curious about my name. Since I was little, I've heard questions like: What does it mean? Where does it come from? Is it a diminutive of something? There were also those childhood jokes where they'd say to me 'Heby: Fully Loaded' or 'Hello, H-E-B' (the first one referring to the famous 1963 Volkswagen, and the second to a supermarket franchise with whom I share ¾ of my name).
I used to say that my name is pronounced as 'eby' because the 'h' is silent in Spanish. But I soon discovered that it wasn't just about others knowing its pronunciation; it was also about them knowing how to spell it. That's when I reclaimed the childhood jokes and started introducing myself like this: 'My name is like H-E-B, but with 'y' at the end.' This introduction is perfect for those who are familiar with the supermarket franchise; it always brings laughter, and suddenly, my name becomes memorable. The real challenge is for people who don't know what H-E-B is, to whom I quickly explain that it's the Disneyland equivalent for adults and that they should visit it if possible (although I have to admit that I might be a little biased because I really enjoy trips to the supermarket).
Anyway, I inherited my name from other family members, and it comes from Hebrew. Its meaning is 'eternal.' I only learned its origin quite recently, but I'll save that story for another time because I'd like to keep the length of this introduction to no more than three paragraphs. So if you wish to know more about my name and my work, please leave a message after the tone... beeeeep! (Or go directly to the contact section).
